2020 Netflix Consumption

This poster was created in 4 weeks in 2021 and documents the amount of Netflix watched from January 2020 to December 2020. With the lockdown, streaming services like Netflix become a predominant change in people’s lifestyles.

The poster was also originally designed to be a print poster at 11” wide by 17” tall.

These are the various conceptual stages and idea exploration. Starting from the left, the cells from the Excel spreadsheet were explored to see how it would look when some cells were filled and others weren’t.

The middle is the first version of the poster that includes further refinement of the filled and unfilled cells and the introduction of type. At this stage, I was debating on whether to include more text to allow the viewer to have a clearer interaction with the poster or to keep it extremely minimal.

The final poster is on the right, with introduction of more text and the inclusion of a legend at the bottom. More exploration of Excel was done such as using borders to the cells to create more clarity in the poster. The use of red is to reference the colour of the Netflix logo.
